KAMALA HARRIS: LIVING THE AMERICAN DREAM
Kamala Harris made history on Saturday with her election as Joe Biden's vice president, becoming the first woman and the first person of colour (tracing her roots to her Tamil mum and Jamaican dad) to win the second-highest US office. “I may be the first but make sure I’m not the last,” she said during her first speech as VP-elect.
ANDRZEJ DUDA RE-ELECTED, ANTI-GERMAN SENTIMENT COLOURS POLAND
The victory of Andrzej Duda in the 2020 presidential election of Poland has proven that there is a strong liking for the generous State handouts and social conservatism within the country. This is Duda’s second victory since the presidential election of 2015.

WIKILEAKS FOUNDER JULIAN ASSANGE TO BE HEARD AT OLD BAILEY
Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange, is due in court at the Central Criminal Court, in London in his battle against extradition to the United States, where he could be put in prison for 175 years for his role in leaking government suppressed information to the public.

BLAME GAME BETWEEN ARMENIA AND AZERBAIJAN CONTINUES AMID VIOLENT CLASHES
Violent clashes between Armenian and Azerbaijan forces continued on Monday over the control of Nagorno-Karabakh, a disputed territory between the two nations. Without any substantial proof, both sides accused each other of using Syrian militants on the battlefield.

WORLD'S LONGEST SERVING PM, BAHRAIN'S PRINCE KHALIFA DIES AT 84
The country will officially mourn the death of the supreme leader for a week, government offices will be closed for three days. The burial ceremony will take place after his remains are transported home, and in line with coronavirus restrictions the ceremony will be limited to a “specific number” of relatives, it said.


BREXIT BREAKTHROUGH ON CHRISTMAS EVE: JOHNSON ANNOUNCES TRADE DEAL
The European Union and Britain have struck a last-minute deal on the Brexit trade agreement on December 24. Just a week before the deadline, the UK and EU have managed to put an end to the nine-month-long negotiation on the trade deal which will be effective from January 1, 2021.
